The 500 Club: The Secret Drew Brees Used To Join Elite NFL Company
This past Saturday, while the Purdue Boilermakers were stunning the Ohio State Buckeyes with a 49-20 win, one of the most famous Boilermakers was probably finishing up his own game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Somewhere on the Chesapeake Bay, Drew Brees was leading his New Orleans Saints to a victory.
Now, before you think I’ve lost my mind, I’m aware that the Saints and Ravens didn’t meet on a football field on Saturday. They met on Sunday night, when Brees joined Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre as the only QBs in NFL history to throw for 500 touchdowns.
And, more importantly, Brees helped New Orleans win a nail-biter decided by the first missed PAT of Ravens’ kicker Justin Tucker’s professional career.
(October—not so kind to NFL kickers.)
So, no, the physical game wasn’t on Saturday.
